Seattle Academy’s vision required it to complete one of the largest campaigns ever for an independent school in the Northwest.
The plan called for a new home for the Middle School and Foreign Language programs, increased purpose-built science facilities, and a community-strengthening learning commons for the Upper School.
In 2012, Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAAS) retained Campbell & Company's Northwest team to conduct a campaign planning study for a $35 million capital campaign.
Based on the findings of the study, our team concluded Seattle Academy could move forward with the campaign, and we were then engaged as campaign counsel.
“Having Campbell & Company just a phone call away has been incredibly important as we've reached a milestone decision in our campaign. They offer fresh perspectives and insights on best practices, and they test our assumptions. Our decisions are better with their guidance.”
-Erin Culbertson, Director of Institutional Giving, Seattle Academy of Arts & Sciences
Significant leadership gifts (over $12 million in the first six months) proved that the campaign would succeed, and by May 2017 SAAS was close to reaching its goal.
The new and upgraded facilities, including a STREAM (science, technology, robotics, engineering, arts, and math) building that opened in 2015, will add critical space for learning support, problem-solving, and collaboration; Construction of the Cardinal Union Building commenced in March 2017.
