The Database Corner with Mike Furlong

I’ve heard you make mention of audit queries and reports to help keep data clean. Are there certain ones you would recommend?

The audit reports/queries I most often recommend are around Actions and Proposals/Opportunities; records where the date or status may not be in sync. For example, a query of any open actions that are more than 3 months old or a report for proposals that have an open status but have been funded. This idea can be expanded to any area of the database where you feel data may be out of sync. When thinking about these audits, you may also want to consider how often to review the queries or reports: weekly, monthly, or yearly. Those that can become out of sync more quickly, like actions, should be reviewed more often. With any luck, you will begin to notice that you’re seeing fewer and fewer issues over time.
